End of summer season

Yes, almost ...
Autumn is coming but we still have the last days of summer. Hot days, here, in my country. So, I thought, let's buy a great bikini ;) I really needed to feel the summer spirit, even if it was just for a couple of weeks.
So, I found a new challenge in SL. My friend Katime Vacano invited me to help and blog. Wow, I was astonished!! It is a great challenge to write and to actually blog one item a week, be fashionable, be sexy ;) with a great dose of good sense and professionalism. That's how I got to blog in SXY2ND !!

So, this is going to be my first item to be blogged. The Halter bikini line by SySy Chapman.

It's really great, beautiful summer and fresh colours, great price!!
I just added a hat (excellent for these hot late summer days), the pareo is included in the fabulous price of this bikini. Check it out ;)

oh and by the way, once you get to SySy's mainstore, when you subscribe, you'll get 5 sexy tees.
Excellent!

Creative minds in SL

I had the immense pleasure of reading some posts of Gwen Carillion's Blog.
She was one of the sponsors of the Wedding SuperElite Show. She created (this is the word) a beautiful space for the Fashion Show.

Hers is a creative mind and her lucidity woke me up, really.
The way she sees and experiences Second Life is so positive, that I was inspired by her words.

Gwen is extremely creative; her words got to me, because as a SL Model, I deal with creativity all the time: with the clothes Designer's creativity, shoes, hair, avatar related, everything we work with. And aftert that, as Models, we are also creative.

Gwen's positive way of looking at Second Life really made me think of my own creativity, doing my job as a Model in SL.
It is a very creative work to do, like many others. Or I should say, we can do this job using our creativity.
I decided to work more creatively from now on; creation doesn't need to be only building or designing clothes, hair or shoes.
I don't really know how to say this, but after reading just some posts from Gwen Carillion's Blog, I felt that creativity works in different ways for all of us.

It's just do whatever we do in SL with a positive, creative way. Keep improving all the time and take the excellent advantages SL offers us to be also better as human beings and give that to SL in return.
I so agree with Gwen when she says that SL is not a real life substitute. For her, it's a way of creating. It fits her real life.
I think the same, so I am certainly going to see things differently from now on.

I am much more aware of whatever I do, in SL, I can make things more beautiful, in my own creative way. Everybody can.

Sharing an experience with you

As I go along Second Life Fashion world as a Model, it has always been my feeling that in Second Life, to be a "Top Model" is both - easy and difficult.

Easy, because you can create a Group, and give yourself or others the "Top Model" tag, or for that matter, any kind of "special tag".

Difficult, because when you watch a SL Fashion Show you will know if a "Top Model" tag really is what that avatar is representing.

I always keep my feet on the ground, so Real Life is my "school". Let's look at RL Models.
They do not have "Top Model" tags. Who decides on that? Who is a "Top Model" and who is not? Mostly, common sense and public opinion, right?

For some years now, RL Designers are chosing unknown Models, because there was a moment (and we all saw that happen) when people went to a Fashion Show to watch a certain Model or Models instead of the Designer's Collection, which has always been the point, right?

So, from the 70's on, some RL Models became celebrities; from the 80's there was a "boom" of Model celebrities. Their names were associated with "divas", like some actresses public will never forget.

However, is this the first reason why a real girl decides to become a Model? To be famous?
It can be, yes. In that sense, she must do a lot (and I do really mean a LOT) to get there. To be famous.

The first reason why I became a SL Model was (and still is) to work. So, it's my own opinion to decide if this or that SL Model is Top or not. No tag can decide that for me.

Recently, I was casted to a Second Life Group of Models (the owner of the Group insists that it is not a Model Agency, and that is ok. It's a Group dedicated to Event's organization). I went to the casting and was chosen as a "Print Model".

Some days have passed after the list of casted SL Models was out. Well, I saw a list made of several roles inside this Group: from "Star Model" (which is ok, for a group of friends, NOT for a Professional Group of SL Models), to "Top Models", to "Print Model" , to "Runway Model", etc.

I do believe that the simple "Model" tag gives us all the same fair opportunity.

If we are going to be in an event (a Fashion Show, for example), then the client decides which Models will be in the event. Who are the runway Models for him or her or a print Model, etc.

If we organize a Group of SL Models already giving them a role, it's restrictive in my SL Professional opinion, as a Model.

And we, SL Models, have the freedom to chose who we work with, right? We are free to go to castings and then decide, if chosen, if we want to work with that Agency or not, isn't it so?

If we want to stay or leave, it's our choice.

There is, at the moment, a huge amount of Models in Second Life! So, there is no problem is finding a replacement, if we leave a Group.
Besides each avatar in Second Life is a person that thinks, has choices, decides.

I chose not to stay in that Group, because I don't like this kind of "Model distribution" , these restrictive roles and tags.

If I weren't a polite person, it would have been a big drama, because I sent a notecard to the owner of the Group explaining that I was going to leave and why. Well, she was angry, very angry! I wonder why? Aren't we - SL Models - allowed to think for ourselves, to take our time and see if we feel good inside that Group? If we don't, we are free to leave, no drama.

This is what I think - NO DRAMA in Second Life. If there is any, I will leave the Group where the whole drama happened.

You see, my real life goes on. I click the "X" button and log off and still have my RL going, my family, my work, my LIFE!
When I log in Second Life, I want to do my job - be a SL Model and do my best to represent the SL Model Agencies I work with. Honour them, make them be proud of having me , as a Model.
For that, an Agency or a Group of SL Models must also respect themselves first. I assure you that, not only SL Models have a reputation - SL Model Agencies do too!

=======================
Oh, by the way, I am very proud to have been invited to join Avenue Model Agency! That really makes me proud. Imagine that - go on a runway, do our best as SL Models and wear a simple tag *Avenue Model*. Isn't it simple and great? Thank you Avenue!!

Songs on Runway Fashion Show - EIMA

B&S Design by klara Waco - EIMA

What a great Fashion Show by Elegance International Model Agency!
Besides having live music, sung by Cecy (excellent voice, by the way) through the land streaming, the music was carefully chosen, the outfits were awsome.

It was not what I would call a "regular" Fashion Show. Actually, I could stay there for hours, just listening to Cecy sing and strut the runway with klara's outfits.

I really enjoyed it, all the way!! And I am so grateful I was in it!!
Thank you Klara, Fiammetta!! You ladies are lovely!!!
Bisous!!**

Pop Tarts SuperElite Show - Video

What a great show! It was fun, it was professional, well, it was Pop Tarts SuperElite!!
I loved performing as Alicia Keys!! There is a reason why I chose Alicia, in the first place. Well, several reasons, actually!
She is discrete and yet we cannot avoid staring at her at public events! She is fashionable, and one of my favourite US singers and players. This lady has been an inspiration! Extremely talented, as an artist, she can keep her private life to herself and guess what!! She can sing!! lol
Awsome voice, excellent piano player, I've seen one of her gigs and... well... I was like wow!
Maybe Alicia Keys will never know that she was portrayed in SL, with all the professionalism I think she would like to!
Thank you to all SuperElite team for this opportunity!! This was one of a lifetime show!!

Just watch the video and you'll see ;)

I have two lives *smiles*

Talking to an SL friend of mine, the other day, I was wondering what kind of blog I'm having: a SL fashion blog exclusively ... or what could my blog be?

Well, actually, I think I found myself :)

Sea in Fashion is a personal blog of a SL Model, yes, a diary type, I'm afraid.

So, I'd like to share with you something that touched me, really.
I was part of Maseno Project II developped by Mimmi Boa inworld to help RL children. Yesterday, May 8th, I was in Maseno Show with SuperElite Model Agency (one of the SL Agencies I represent.

It was an amazing experience, especially the auction dress part. In RL, I am caucasian, so I was used to wear caucasian skins in SL. And this particular SL Designer asked for an afro skin to wear her outfit!

Outfit: Prelude Collection Privee - Tropiques

I did, no questions asked. It's a request from the Designer and that we can do in SL. This is what amazes me in SL! Always! To see myself in someone else's shoes - an african lady!
A Model should be unique. Both RL and SL. In Second Life, we can adapt more to each circumstance.
So, I also "found myself" as a SL Model: my uniqueness is that I am adaptable. Yes, I can wear proudly an african skin, an asian skin, a caucasian blue eyed avatar, dark eyes, whatever is needed to do my job well: represent a special Designer, represent a SL Model Agency.

Mostly, I found out that SL allows me to be exactly what I am in RL - extremely adaptable to whatever life brings me. If you are given lemons, make lemonade. Let it be the best lemonade you ever tasted!!

After much consideration...

... I decided to place here my Modelling Diplomas.

It is, in fact, very important that we have SL training to model.
However, training is not enough... I mean the diplomas. Once you start dedicating yourself to an activity, I strongly believe that we are learning all the time!

I never take anything for granted, always learn, watch many Fashion Shows in SL and observe. If you do this, you can tell, really, even in SL, who is a good Model or who is "just there", for whatever reasons there may be - oh and there are many reasons ... ;)

So, my diplomas, in chronological order.

I must say I met wonderful people in these three SL Modelling Academies! Some of them should be on those beautiful runways we have in SL... really!

SuperElite Academy Advanced and Elite Graduate - February 2009

UVogue Models Institute Graduate (former InStyle Model Academy) - March 2009

Avenue Academy Graduate - April 2009

After this training, time and life (the Second) will tell :)

I told you... I was going to get personal...

I just love this photo... don't know exactly why *smiles*

Let's get to the point!
In SL Fashion World, I guess the same in RL Fashion, competition is huge among Models. There are, in fact many people, especially female avatars that want to be SL Models. It's fine.

However, there are some "borders" I will not cross: first one is actually my own principles and values. I mean RL ones. SL is an extension of me, not a RL substitute at all. So, I will never "lick any ass" to climb to a "top Model position", I am never rude to anybody also. Somewhere in the middle is the balance. My work, as an SL Model, my actions will show my true value. My good friends as well :)

We must never forget that SL is an interactive game; behind an avatar is a real person!! We may be SL Models... in RL, some very "powerful" Fashion related people, may as well be an old lady sitting in a wheelchair or a man with a female avatar and vice-versa!! Actually, we don't know!
There is a thin line between what's "real" and what is the "game" inside the game itself.
In SL Fashion Industry, I know of some situations we can ... well, cry about them or laugh at them. I prefer to laugh, cause actually, some people are funny!

Like in a contest you enter, as an SL Model, and another Model accuses you of cheating (for some reason). Why is that? *laughs*

If there is a good and honest Model Contest, with a panel of judges, what's the use of accusing another Model of cheating? I mean actually go on open chat and accuse one of the Contest participants of cheating. Why is that?
If you have a panel of judges, well... report that to the judges and let them decide.

I see only one thing that makes me laugh... why do some people in SL act like this?
Because they are bitter inside, they are jealous of the so called "success". Funny, isn't it?

If that ever happens to you , as a Model... ignore these people. Really!! And have fun, that's the whole point, isn't it? Be professional, nice, polite and simply... ignore them.

Let's see what happens :)

I told you, I would get personal :)

Improving yourself in a metaverse world

From the moment I started in SL Fashion ( from November 2008), I went through a process of self improvement.
We all may say that. It has to do with developing your avatar, shape, skins, etc.

Actually, we may start there, but that's not what I mean. Just let me show you. Images may tell us if our avatar is good, beautiful, if you are a good photo model. Indeed they can.

The first photo I took to enter a SL Model Competition:

*smiles*

Oh dear!! *laughs*
From that moment on, with this photo taken by me, with no skills on editing any photo ( I still don't ehehe) , this is the last one I took, myself.

Without any extremely demanding photo edition, we can tell the difference. Or at least I can *smiles*

My point goes beyond the difference in the avatar, skin, shape.
I have learned so much!!!
And I mean personally!
How can you tell, in a metaverse universe such as SL who you can actually trust, who your friends really are?

Well, you can't, right away.
But time... time and actually paying attention to people's actions (let's not forget that behind each avie is a real person), you can tell!

For me, SL Fashion World has been a way to improve myself, as a real woman. Improve my own elegance, pay attention to all details, actually see how people can be in a highly competitive permanent situation.

Oh yes and here you can tell who your friends really are.
So, right now, I may say that I've met wonderful people, beautiful inside! One of these ladies is very special to me and will always be! Seashell Dench is my avatar in SL, but behind it , there is a woman. I can feel, we all can, no matter so many people may say that SL is just a "game".
Well, it is. But you are actually interacting with real people, from all over the world.

So, let me introduce you to my SL Fashion Mentor. I love this lady and she will always be special to me! One of a kind! Personally, I am loyal beyond belief. So is she!

You mean very much to me, Ms Sydney Nitely!!
No words will ever be enough to express my gratitude to you!

The Journey - Seashell Dench

Hi :)
I'm Sea (well, you must have figured that out by now *smiles*).
Always dare to follow your dreams, that's what led me to Fashion SL World!

I may start my blog by telling you my three favourite "must do":

. Be yourself always!
. Trust in you!
. You are UNIQUE!

So, the journey starts :)
Learning is something you do, always. Love learning, so I personally never think I "know it all by now".
Even when I get to be a very very old SL Model (*smiles*) I know, for sure, I'll always be learning!

My goal... to be the best I can be. To develop myself as a human being, a woman, a Second Life Model.
Not comparing to anyone, because it makes no sense that we are "like" somebody else. Each of us is unique. If you think you need to copy somebody to be a popular model... you've lost your uniqueness!

Dare!
Welcome! Maybe you'll find my blog a little too "personal" for a SL Fashion blog, but... that's me! I'll share the experiences I've had, not only the awsome SL designers we do actually have or the stylish we can be, our gorgeous avatars.

Oh yes, I'll get personal :)
